Two different families. Two different levels of support needed between closing day and move-in day.

One was on FaceTime in another state the day before closing, watching through a phone screen with two little kids in the background, when she decided she didn't like the wall color. Another had already closed, on paper, done — except they still needed the electrical wiring updated before they could actually live there.

‍ I said, I can get my painter in.

‍ I sent her two sample colors. She picked one from her phone.

‍Her husband was starting residency at the TMC. She was managing the move, the logistics, the kids, the new city — all of it, while he stepped into one of the most demanding training programs in medicine.

‍Before they arrived, I had the house professionally cleaned, carpets steamed, and every room freshly painted — walls, trim, everything.

‍She texted me two weeks later, after she set her bags down in the home for the first time. She loved the house.

‍No chaos to untangle. No contractors to chase. Just a family that got to walk in and start.

‍The Electrical Work‍ ‍

Another physician family recently closed on their home. On paper, done.

Except it wasn't. They knew they'd need to update the electrical wiring, and sooner than they'd actually be moving in. Otherwise, their insurance coverage would not start. I got my master electrician in to complete the work, and a painter to patch up any sheetrock.

This is the part almost nobody sees. The weeks in between, when a house needs someone to pay attention and the family can't be there yet.

‍That's the work I do. Not just finding the house. Making sure it's actually ready when they walk through the door.

‍Why This Matters More for Medical Families

Buying the home is only one part of the move. Physicians and their families are making these decisions on a timeline they don't control — Match Day, a fellowship start date, a call schedule that doesn't pause for painters or punch lists. Someone has to hold the in-between.
