Why This Work Requires Someone Who's Lived It
From pre-med to Professor of Medicine, physician relocation has been part of my life for more than two decades.
Long before Homes for Healers existed, I was the one making those moves happen.
New cities. New homes. Kids who needed their own version of settled. A physician whose next chapter in medicine was beginning, whether the rest of our lives felt ready for it or not.
Nobody handed me a guide for any of it.
And when you've lived these moves from the family side, it's hard to see the house as the whole assignment.
The transaction is only one part of the move
Of course, the real estate matters.
Finding the right neighborhood matters. Understanding the market matters. Negotiating the right house matters.
But I know what it feels like when the physician's start date is fixed, and the rest of the family's life isn't.
Somebody still has to figure out the house, the new city, the kids, and what normal will look like while medicine keeps moving.
Those pieces matter too.
That perspective stayed with me.
Eventually, it became part of the reason I built Homes for Healers.
Lived experience changes what you notice
“Physician relocation specialist” is a title anyone can put behind their name.
For me, what matters more is what's behind it.
You can learn a great deal about physician relocation professionally. You can understand the market, the transaction, and the demands of a medical career.
But there are things you notice differently when you've been the person living inside the transition.
I've been that person.
More than once.
And those years changed the way I think about this work.
That experience became part of the business
When I built Homes for Healers, I brought those years with me.
Not as a story to put on an About page.
As perspective.
They shape what I notice and the standard I hold myself to when a physician family trusts me with their move.
I want physician families to have someone in their corner who understands the whole transition, not just the transaction.
I just don't believe the family's transition stops at the front door.
I'm not doing this just to be a disruptor.
I'm doing it because I believe physician families deserve a better standard of relocation.
And for me, that belief didn't begin when I entered real estate.
It began years earlier, when I was the one figuring out how to build a new normal while medicine kept moving.
